DRAFT HORSE REGISTRATION
Draft horse exhibitors should mail registrations to the New Liskeard Agricultural Society, Box 1239, New Liskeard Ontario P0J 1P0. Registrations will be accepted at the Fair Office beginning Monday, Sept. 12, 2016. Entries are accepted until 1 hour before the show begins. A $10.00 per class late entry fee will apply for entries received within the 1 hour post time limit.

DRAFT HORSE RULES
1. All exhibitors must register at the Fair Office or by mail as stated above.
2. Please see the Heavy Horse Director to receive your show numbers.  These numbers will correspond to the horse being shown.  Before entering the ring, each exhibitor will be given a show number. All Exhibitors MUST wear their CORRECT number when showing in the ring. Failure to comply with this rule will result in elimination. Please be advised that this rule will be strictly enforced.
3. If your entries are pre-registered and you are showing a team of draft horses at the fair, you will receive two weekend passes. Additional passes are available for helpers and workers at the rate of $20.00 per pass. Every vehicle entering the grounds requires a parking pass. They can be purchased at the rate of $20.00 per pass per vehicle. Passes are non-refundable. Entrance Passes and Parking Passes can be ordered on your registration form. Exhibitors who do not pre-register will be required to pay the regular gate price to enter the Fair grounds.
4. All Draft Horses are to be in the barns by 12:00 noon Friday, September 16, 2016 and remain in the barns as long as possible on Saturday, September 17, 2016.
5. All animals must be in good health. If there is concern regarding an animal’s health status, a veterinarian will be consulted and the owners may be asked to remove them from the grounds.
6. Horses must have suitable halter and lead shank.
7. All handlers must be experienced and have a working knowledge of horses.
8. Coggins Tests are NOT required.
9. A CERTIFICATE SHOWING PROOF OF LIABILTIY INSURANCE MUST ACCOMPANY THE REGISTRATION FORMS FOR ALL ANIMALS BEING EXHIBITED AT THE NEW LISKEARD FALL FAIR.
10. Rosettes will be given from 1st to 6th place. Prize money will be paid from 1st to 5th place. (Except for classes 14 to 18).
11. Junior Showmanship Class – Draft Animals Only – the exhibitor must be 17 years of age or younger.
12. There is no limit on the number of entries per class. CROSS ENTRIES ARE NOT ALLOWED except for classes #8 (Brood Mare & Foal) and #10 (Progeny of Dam). Line classes only.
13. The Load Draw will be judged under the current rules of the Northern Draft Horse Club. The Judge’s decision is final in all disputes.
14. Draft horse exhibitors are to be cautious with the use of the whip in the area just outside the show ring.
15. In all classes, the light draft weight is 3400 lbs. and under.
16. Stallions must be shown and/or handled by someone 18 years of age or older at all times. Draft horse director must be notified before entering grounds to make proper arrangements. Stallions are not permitted in barns. (2 years old and over).
17. While the directors and associate directors will take every reasonable precaution to ensure the safety of the animals, it is distinctly understood that owners must take the risk of exhibiting the animals and if any animal is injured, stolen or strays, the Directors will offer whatever assistance is in their power towards the recovery of the lost or strayed animal but will make no payment in whole or in part for the value thereof. Director or Associate Directors will not be held responsible for any accident on the Fair Grounds.

DRAFT HORSE BARN RULES
1. Trailers and vehicles must be parked in designated areas ONLY. Please do not park in front of the barns.
2. No unauthorized person will be allowed to remain in the barns overnight.
3. Absolutely NO SMOKING in the barns.
4. Each exhibitor is responsible to keep his/her area tidy showing regard for other exhibitors and the general public. A bin will be provided for garbage.
5. In the draft horse barn, exhibitors who previously built and maintained stalls will have first chance to use their stalls. Please see the Draft Horse Director for assignment of available stalls.
6. Exhibitors must provide their own feed, bedding and clean-up utensils. Bedding Straw will be available for purchase on a limited basis at the cost of $3.00 per bale. Please indicate on your registration form if you are purchasing straw. Payment can be added to your entry fee.
7. A $50.00 fine per stall will be imposed for stalls not cleaned out before the conclusion of the Fair on Saturday, September 17, 2016.  The stall must be stripped clean and all hay and debris removed from the manger.

RING CONDUCT
1. Exhibitors may be disqualified for abusing horses in any manner, for abuse inside or outside of the ring or for using a whip.
2. During the line classes, horses must enter and leave the show ring at a walk, single file.
3. The equipment required for a class may not be used for practicing before the class or event begins unless authorized by the ring steward and Draft Horse Section Director.
4. In all timed events an electronic timer will be used whenever possible.
5. Failure to follow the course or pattern will result in disqualification. The judge’s decision is final.
6. If an exhibitor leaves the ring during a class without the judge’s permission, he/she will be disqualified.
7. Exhibitors will be responsible for being on time for the class – no late entries, no refunds and the class will not be repeated for anyone.
8. Exhibitors are to wait in the staging area after their class until the winners have been called or have someone ready to pick up their prize.

Only the presentation of the horse and the handling by the exhibitor will be judged. The physical attributes of the horse are not to be judged.
